Debt to the cat

Just now, I accidentally saw some pictures of the cat I had 10 years ago when I was in Singapore, taken by a Chinese friend. We called it Milk Coffee because its fur looked like a delicious milk coffee cup that the café owner just brought, placed on the table, and not stirred by anyone.

He followed us all the way home from the park. In the apartment yard, there were many wild cats and many people were feeding them so that we couldn’t see the cats clearly. However, Milk Coffee determined to follow us to our home. He must have been afraid of being overfed. He wanted to keep fit.

Originally, according to the rules of the apartment, there were no pets allowed, but we kept him secretly. At the age of 18-20, there were prohibited things, but we stealthily did them because they did not harm anyone. It cannot be a full youth if you are not mischievous sometimes.

Once he got in, he stayed in my room and didn’t go anywhere. At night, he slept on my bed. During the day, he also slept. When he woke up, he played with the ropes and toys hanging on the foot of the chair. During the day, there is usually a fixed hour that he wanted to poop, he scratched the door of the room to go to the sand basin placed on the balcony to poop. Its living habits were simple and easy. He was smart but not mischievous, on the contrary, he was very lovely, and he was my close friend during my University years away from home.

Then came the day I came back to Vietnam and couldn’t find someone to raise him. The good hostess drove me and him to the park to return him to where he should belong. I cried out loud. He also cried meow meow when standing in the middle of the lawn alone, but he did not follow me like before.

A couple of Europeans approached me and asked me why I was crying. I pointed my finger at him. They comforted me, then comforted my cat. They said they would like to raise him but they were not sure if they could raise him. They told me to rest assured, there everyone loved animals, every cat was fat, some cats were even too fat to move. The hostess came and patted my back, well, go home, “don’t cry”. When someone says “don’t cry”, I tend to cry louder, but at that time, I followed her home, cleaning up, prepare to leave.

Now, I no longer cry about the cat, but take everything – meeting or leaving is the matter of fate. However, sometimes, I still feel like I owe him – the cat. In retrospect, we have gone through our own youth and left behind many debts. It could be a material or emotional debt. In the end, they are all debts, which cannot be finalized or fulfilled because they are out of reach.

We owe an apology, but it’s Youth, who doesn’t know what is right or wrong, so he thinks saying thanks is enough, it’s not a fault! Yes, thank you, Youth. Thanks for the “combo” of the foolishness – mistake – loss – tear – hurt. Thanks to the kindness of my beloveds and even the strangers for supporting me, so that I can LIVE a passionate life.
