East-West symphony
One of the things that made me curious when I came to Turkey was the eating habits of the people there. That day, at a buffet restaurant, I was curious to follow the local guide to see what he chose and how to combine the dishes. Seeing me staring at the plate of food in his hand, he explained that at his hometown, everyone mainly ate vegetables, only occasionally they added beef, lamb, fish, and seafood to their meals. “We can’t find pork in many markets. I don’t eat pork since I was young, because I was taught that it was a filthy species, so when I think of pork, I feel nauseous,” – he said, frowning.
In addition to not eating pork, compared to other Muslim countries, Turkish cuisine is known for its rich ingredients and diverse processing methods, as there is a cross between many cultures. Turkish food has a strong Asian flavor and the elegance of the West, and it is also very simple and fresh, bringing a refreshing feeling like Mediterranean dishes.
I have learned a few dishes to set a party table like this myself.
