A normal day

A day like every other day, we got up together. Today, I woke up first, checked my mail, replied to messages. He crawled up, after being patted on the butt with my mischievous joke, “Honey, wake up to celebrate!”.

– Oh, 5 years already! So sad!
– Why are you sad? Because after a blink of an eye we will celebrate our 10 years, then 50 years huh?
– I can’t live until then.
– No!!!! You can’t grow old, you can’t die!!!!! You have to stay here with me!!!!!
Recalling last night, when I was lying down watching a movie, I was touched by his “so sad” sentence, so I rushed to rub my head against his chest.

Very rarely do we have the same tendency in watching movies. Normally, I like to go to the cinema, and he likes to watch movies at home because he wants to stay in a quiet place to study the angles, the lightings, and the sounds of the movie. So instead of wasting time nagging with him, I texted my friends, went out to dinner, watched a movie, had a few cocktails and then went home.

When we were at home and he wanted to watch American movies, I liked Korean and Japanese movies; when he wanted to watch action movies, I wanted to watch romantic movies; the day he chose a comedy, I was inspired to watch a science fiction film. Just like that, our hobby of movies is an endless chase. The most recent movie we watched together was “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Jack Nicholson was so good. His craziness made me think of him and my friends – all “weirdos” (who are not like anyone). We talked vigorously throughout the day after watching the movie. The rare times we matched when watching movie were like that!

And last night, like most nights spent together, each one would hug a laptop, and watched our own movies. Occasionally, he would turn around to ask, “What movie are you watching?”, Or glanced at my computer screen to see how the film was going and commented. Sometimes, there’s a good line from the movie he was watching caught my attention, I will pause the movie I’m watching, look at his screen, repeat that line, or listen to see if there is another good sentence in that conversation.

Movie is probably a representative of all our different points, from personality to eating, reading, traveling hobbies, daily routines, social interactions … We have nothing in common! And it’s hard for others to believe how different we are until we list them out. In fact, all of these differences are to connect us, like discrete pieces of a puzzle game. Convex and concave – it is how they make up for each other.

My friend once said, “I admire you, I can’t leave my husband for a while”. I never leave my husband either. The bond between us is tangible – we feel and touch it. But maybe as my friend asserted, I’m introvert, and so is he. Both need our own space to think. Every movement in our minds, our changes happen when we are alone, or when we sit together and are silent.

3 years ago, when we expressed our admiration for a couple who had been together for 7 years.
– Honey, how long did you love someone as the longest?
– About 2 years.
– So I’m better than you! I used to love someone for 5 years! I wonder if you can love me for 7 years like your friends?

It seems, at this time, exactly today – on the 5th anniversary of the wedding, I have reached my threshold, and he has broken his love record?! Being with a person for 5, 10, 20 years is not difficult. Staying in love through that time is hard. Will the 50-year mark come as fast as the blink of an eye? How many more years will we continue to quarrel, be happy, get bored, be passionate, be indifferent, be foolish? Is he getting old? Will he leave me halfway in this life? Or could the person who leaves be me?…

Every year, our anniversary day will pass quietly with a few jokes, a click, like the other n days in this life. Because every day, it is always a passionate day to love of two people who can be apart if they don’t have enough love and patience.

– I want to go to Australia. We arrange our works then go, is it ok?
– Yes, let’s go!!!!

So, a marriage sometimes just needs that! The consent of our partner that makes us happy!
